That’s right Carnegie Friggin’ Hall! I was a little surprised that Razorlight was coming back to NYC to play the Bowery Ballroom, given that’s where they played last time. As everybody knows, it’s pretty much the law that if you played the Bowery once, you play a bigger venue next time you’re in New York, Irving Plaza at the least, but more often, the crappy Webster Hall. But if Johnny Borrell and the boys wanted to come back and play the best venue in the city again, who am I to stop them, hell, I might even go to the show. After perusing the Bowery, the website, you will see the following cryptic note on the date of September 11, 2006:
RAZORLIGHT – This show has been cancelled – Refunds are available at their point of purchase
The good news they are playing an acoustic(!) show at the great Carnegie Hall opening for Keane, a big step up for them, but apparently they are drawing huge crowds in the UK now. They are also playing the larger, less friendly, Hammerstein Ballroom on September 14, where they are also supporting Keane.
As an aside, I just listened to the new album, I don’t like it as much as the first.
09/11/06 New York, USA Bowery Ballroom
09/13/06 New York, NY Carnegie Hall (acoustic)
09/14/06 New York, NY Hammerstein Ballroom
UPDATE: In other Razorlight dirt, the Daily Star reported that Johnny Borrell allegedly told Kate Moss that she was “too old for him”.
