Elvis Costello and Solomon Burke

The King of Rock’n Roll, Solomon Burke, has a show tonight at BB King’s Blues Club and Grill. Solomon Burke’s comeback record Don’t Give Up On Me, is one of my all time favorite releases of the past few years, and if tickets weren’t a steep $35, I would definitely be at this tonight. Also, according to the BB King’s website, Solomon has an interesting looking new record coming out in 2008.
Fresh from January 2008 studio sessions for his forthcoming album, produced by Steve Jordan with songs by Eric Clapton, Jesse Harris, Keb Mo’, Ben Harper and Jordan, Solomon’s performance at BB’s will be an opportunity to experience 55 years of music, from the roots of soul to his ground-breaking contemporary sound of today’s music.
There are a few more Solomon Burke tour dates after the jump, but other than the some festival shows in the summer, tonight is his only proper rock’n roll gig currently scheduled for 2008. (If I were a betting man, I’d say Elvis might leave the kids with Diana tonight to check out the show himself).
