Party Down Season 2 on Starz (04/23/10)
Party Down, which follows the antics of a dysfunctional catering crew as they move from gig to gig is probably one of the funniest shows on TV you never saw last year. Season 1 of the John Enbom, Rob Thomas, Dan Etheridge and Paul Rudd created comedy just came out on DVD and Season 2 premieres tonight (April 23) on Starz (don’t worry if you miss the first airing, I’m sure it will be repeated ad nauseam and it’s also available on Netflix streaming video). The Season 1 ensemble featured the incomparable Jane Lynch as Constance Carmell, an aging B-List actress, and her frequent partner in crime Jennifer Coolidge as Bobbie St. Brown, a late season fill-in for Lynch’s character. Thanks to the success of Glee, Lynch won’t be back this year as a series regular and Will and Grace‘s Megan Mullaly will fill the void left by Lynch and Coolidge’s departure. The rest of the excellent cast, including ex-Freaks and Geeks actor Martin Starr, who plays the deadpan screenwriter Roman Debeers, and The State‘s Ken Marino, who plays the hapless team leader Ron Donald will all be back.
