The Dead Weather – Sea of Cowards (05/11/10)
Since The Dead Weather seem to be perpetually releasing singles and videos, I didn’t actually notice when they announced they’d be putting out a brand new record on May 11, 2010. Sea of Cowards is the name of the sophomore LP from Jack White‘s currently active side project and you can view a live camera feed of a turntable playing the new LP at thedeadweather.com until May 1 at 1 PM EDT. If you miss the Screaming Vinyl Live listening party, the band is also performing their new album in its entirety on May 3 at 6PM EDT at Third Man Records in Nashville, TN. The live album premiere (which is a cool idea actually) will be streamed on MySpace Music and at the band’s Myspace page. You can also Tweet to download a free “Hustle and Cuss” MP3 and automatically be entered to win a VIP Bonnaroo package http://www.tweematic.com/deadweather.
I’m just spit-balling here but the Music Hall of Williamsburg is mysteriously “Closed For A Private Event” on May 12, the day after the new Dead Weather album comes out. If I were a betting man, I might want to place some money on a Dead Weather MySpace Secret Show announcement next week, but really, I don’t know any more than you. Of course, Terminal 5 has some free dates around that time too, May 10 or May 13 to be exact, but I’m thinking they’ll save T5 for the tour and play a smaller pre-release show at MHOW.
Video for “Die By The Drop” and a couple of Dead Weather tour dates (no east coast) after the jump. Expect a full US tour schedule to be announced soon.
