2011 New York Comedy Festival
Hey folks, like I mentioned the other day, the New York Comedy Festival is coming to town Nov 9-13 and though the Aug 15 ticket on sale date had been announced, no lineup or schedule had been posted as of Sunday night. Well, that’s all changed as of today (Aug 10) and the 2011 lineup is now up at NYComedyFestival.com. Tickets are also on Citi Private Pass pre-sale as of today, Wednesday, August 10.
New York Comedy Festival
New York, NY | Multiple Venues
The 2011 New York Comedy Festival returns November 9th-13th, 2011 to offer up big laughs to The Big Apple with comedy’s biggest stars performing on New York’s grandest stages, including The Beacon Theatre, Town Hall, and BAM. This year’s line-up includes Louis CK, Wanda Sykes, Bill Maher, Sarah Silverman, Norm Macdonald, John Pinette, Ricky Gervais, Russell Peters and more!Presale Tickets available on August 10th at 10 AM through August 14th at 10 PM!
Interesting to see that BAM is a venue this year, which is a first for the NYCF as far as I know. Sarah Silverman is the perfect headliner for that show, expect to see some local regulars (Todd Barry at least) show up as part of “and Friends” cast. It’s also pretty satisfying to see that the venerable Louis CK is playing two shows at the spacious Beacon Theatre as part of this year’s fest. That has to put him in the upper stratosphere of popularity (dare I say, almost Dane Cook-like), as far as comedians go.
In one that almost slipped under my radar completely, California based comedy duo Garfunkel and Oates (some people may recognize Kate Micucci/Oates from Scrubs or Bored To Death) are playing four shows at Gotham Comedy Club on Aug 12-13 (Buy Tickets). I’m not sure if they are playing any other shows this week, but if they are, it’s a pretty well kept secret. Also this week, the normally more mainstream Gotham is hosting The Laugh Button Live on Wednesday night (Aug 10) featuring Jon Fisch, Gina Brillon, Joe DeRosa, Kurt Metzger, Rodney Laney and Sue Costello.
Last but not least, Tig Notaro‘s new comedy CD Good One came out last week on Secretly Canadian and she’s on the road right now supporting it. If you live around these parts, you can catch Tig at the Knitting Factory Brooklyn on August 20 (Buy Tickets). (I wouldn’t be surprised to see her pop-up at The Pretty Good Friends 5 Year Anniversary Show on Sunday, Aug 21 at The Bell House, but that’s just an educated guess on my part.)
More Tig Notaro tour dates, a video from Garfunkel and Oates and the full 2011 NY Comedy Festival lineup with presale info after the jump.
