OK, so a Coldplay gig at New Meadowlands is pretty much pure conjecture on my part, but here’s what Coldplay manager Dave Holmes said about Coldplay’s 2012 tour itinerary in Billboard.

In 2012, Coldplay will play arenas, festivals and stadiums, and will venture into stadium waters in North America more than ever in the past, according to Holmes. [Billboard.com]

While nothing in that quote says “Coldplay will play New Meadowlands,” one would think if they are going to play stadiums in North America, they will probably play stadiums in the most populous part of the United States, ie. right here in New York. New Meadowlands is the most obvious choice for a stadium show around these parts, but Paul McCartney, Dave Matthews, Eminem and Jay-Z have shown that both Citi Field and Yankee Stadium are viable “stadium gig” venues as well.

Coldplay‘s new album Mylo Xyloto comes out on October 25 on Capitol Records. Coldplay’s current tour schedule is after the jump, but more dates will be announced when the album drops. According to the Billboard article, Coldplay will begin a world tour in April 2012 (preceded by a brief UK/Euro arena run in December 2011) and if all goes well the band will be on the road until late summer 2013.
