Nick Kroll – Thank You Very Cool
Nick Kroll released his first stand up comedy special on DVD last week (Sep 13) and even if you saw the show when it aired, you’ll probably want to own this DVD because: a) it has 20 minutes of previously unseen material and 20 minutes of bonus features, b) it’s uncensored, and c) Nick Kroll is freaking hilarious. In case you’re not familiar with Nick’s work or his comedy special, here’s a little flattering information about him and his show from the press release:
Kroll blows the doors off the conventional stand-up special, weaving in hilarious short films as well as appearances from his infamous characters Fabrice Fabrice, Bobby Bottleservice, El Chupacabra, and Gil Faizon. Filmed live at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg, this extended and uncensored special is a must own for all comedy fans. The DVD is also packed with 20 minutes of bonus features that include: a Fabrice Q & A with the audience, Fabrice after show, Fabrice outtakes, Bobby B outtakes, Oh, Hello outtakes and the Chupa sponsor reel.
Kroll leads the pack of a new generation of comedy minds as a versatile actor, writer and producer. He was named one of Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch” and was featured in Comedy Central’s Hot List of ’09. Currently, Kroll stars on FX’s comedy series, The League, a part-improv, part-scripted comedy from Jackie and Jeff Schaffer (Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm) that is set to return in October.
(Wow, how did I miss this taping? -ed.)
Anyway, as the press release mentions, Nick is one of the stars of the very funny FX series The League, along with fellow comedians/thespians Paul Scheer, Mark Duplass, Steve Rannazzisi, Jon Lajoie and Katie Aselton. For those of you who haven’t been keeping up with The League‘s schedule (shame on you), Season 3 is right around the corner, as is the DVD release of Season 2. New episodes of The League will being airing on October 6 at 10:30 PM on FX, just two days after Season 2 comes out on DVD and Blu-Ray (Oct 4). Last but not least, the cast of the show (Nick Kroll, Jon Lajoie, Stephen Rannazzisi and Paul Scheer) is going to be at the Gramercy Theatre on October 7, 2011 (Buy Tickets) for two live shows celebrating the premiere of Season 3. I’m not really sure what they are going to do, but it will probably be funny.
