Atlantic Antic 2012 (09/30/12)
Hey folks, the Atlantic Antic, Brooklyn’s largest street fair, is today (Sunday, Sep 20) from 12PM – 6PM. Some of this year’s bands include Afrika Bambaataa (DJ Set), Les Sans Culottes, Rolie Polie Guacamole and many more. (Also, there’s another Jay-Z show tonight at the Barclays Center, so traffic shouldn’t be too bad at all.)

THE 38TH ANNUAL ATLANTIC ANTIC STREET FESTIVAL
THE LARGEST STREET FESTIVAL IN NEW YORK CITY
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 30THBrooklyn, NEW YORK – September 27, 2012. Experience the best of Brooklyn THIS SUNDAY, September 30th from 12:00pm to 6:00pm at the 38th Annual Atlantic Antic Street Festival, presented by the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation (AALDC). Celebrate new and old Antic traditions along 10 blocks of Atlantic Avenue with over 500 craft and food vendors, 100 local retailers and restaurants, and one block dedicated to kids! Unlike any festival in New York City, for one day only you can have it all on Atlantic from the waterfront to the arena!
With many new restaurants opening up on Atlantic Avenue, there will be lots of new food finds. Brand new to the avenue is Krescendo, an Italian restaurant from Top Chef Masters contestant Elizabeth Falkner, debuting at the Antic with an outdoor beer garden, wood-fired pizza, and a sampling of their savory homemade pasta. Food vendors like Red Hook Lobster Pound, Blue Marble Ice Cream, and Steve’s Authentic Key Lime Pie will also be there along with plenty of Sixpoint Antic Amber to go around!
The Kids Block between Boerum and Smith will be back again this year featuring pony rides, face painting, and all the hot dogs, funnel cake, and ice cream you can eat! Check out the Broadway Booth’s ever-popular prize wheel and enjoy fun prizes and giveaways from Bring It On, EVITA, and Peter and the Starcatcher, plus vouchers for Broadway show tickets! After you’ve had your fill of show tunes, come down to The Moxie Spot for a drum along with Ivan Katz and Jammin’ With You music school’s SuperJam! Then pick up an Atlantic Antic t-shirt at the AALDC booth as you head to Fourth Avenue where you’ll find the Brooklyn Nets’ mobile unit, “The Experience,” complete with basketball hoops, video games, and more!
La pièce de résistance of every Atlantic Antic is always the live music! Bringing together the most talented musicians, the Antic radiates the true beat of Brooklyn. A must-see this year is a brand new stage presented by hip-hop impresario Rabbi Darkside at Maimonide of Brooklyn (M.O.B.) between Third and Fourth. The lineup includes music just outside of the restaurant that touts the city’s best vegan food. Owner of M.O.B., Cyril Aouizerate is “proud to be part of this amazing Brooklyn event. Come and find out what everyone is talking about!” Look out for Afrika Bambaataa and more at the M.O.B. stage and of course returning acts like French rock band Les Sans Culottes and funk soul band The Get It at the Last Exit stage, The Winsor Terrors at the Chip Shop stage, and belly dancing on the Amer-Aba stage presented by Eddie “The Sheik” Kochak.
The Antic only comes around once a year so clear your calendar and get ready for the largest street festival in New York City!
